The two ranking members of the House Financial Services are showing decidedly different outlooks on the U.S. economy. House Financial Services Chairman Barney Frank is decidedly downbeat and notes that by the Fed's own reckoning, there's been "a continued erosion in the real earnings per hour of working people" and "working Americans are producing more wealth for this country than they are allowed to share." But for Rep. Spencer Bachus, while energy prices are a problem, "we are well on our way to recovery." Bachus also believes stocks understate the real health of companies.
