USD/JPY Slips; BOJ Shirakawa Comments

Forex News JPY rises a little as players react to BOJ Governor Shirakawa's comment that the bank is "putting equal weighting on economy and price risks"; "we are carefully watching both. The balance is 50-50," he says during questions after speech in Tokyo. "Currency players were of the view that Shirakawa held dovish views on the Japanese economy, so this comment was surprisingly hawkish to some players," says senior dealer. Still, few would have expected a shift in BOJ rate policy anytime soon and comments don't in anyway indicate a move is imminent. USD/JPY drifts down to 106.20, and may fall to 105.80. EUR/JPY at 168.40 and may fall to 168.00.
